On January 1st, 2018, WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) officially removed CBD from the list of banned substances. This was an important move because it provided athletes with a natural solution to help treat their ailments as opposed to using effective but additive alternatives (i.e., opiates). For people considering using CBD but are apprehensive due to their inexperience with the compound, I hope to shed some light on what it is, and its benefits.

Why Use CBD?
Post-workout, it is common for people to experience bothersome aches and pains. Although there are many options in regards to treatment, CBD is beginning to emerge as one of the most effective remedies. To understand why more people are beginning to incorporate CBD into their post-workout recovery, we must first understand our relationship with it.

First off, CBD (which stands for Cannabidiol), is a non-psychoactive element of Marijuana. CBD can be useful in treating a plethora of ailments in human beings and other mammals such as symptoms of skin conditions, nausea, anxiety, stress, inflammation, epilepsy, schizophrenia, and pain.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Human beings and cannabis have an intimate relationship as our bodies naturally produce some cannabinoids (an assortment of chemical composites that interact with cannabinoid receptors found within the body) on its own that attach to CB1 receptors in our brain and

CB2 receptors typically located in our immune system. It turns out that CBD has limited to no interaction with these receptors as it does not bind. But, it does work with our body indirectly to achieve many therapeutic benefits.
